2017 Weddings - Get Prepared!

2017 Weddings - Get Prepared!

Christmas may only be weeks away but 2017 couples take note... now is the time to make a start on your wedding stationery!

Save The Dates are typically sent out to guests anywhere between 6 and 12 months before the wedding, with invitations following around 3 to 6 months before the day. These times depend on the planning that will be involved in attending. For example, if you are getting married abroad it is helpful to give your guests as much time as possible to book annual leave and arrange travel plans for your destination wedding. If you are getting married locally to where you live you may not need to notify them so far in advance.

Invitations should allow you to confirm the guest numbers and dietary requirements for your venue and caterers around 4-6 weeks before the day, but it is known that receiving RSVPs back from all prospective guests can be quite a headache! A good way to make this process smoother is to give different ways that they can send responses. I personally loved receiving RSVPs in the post as it added to the excitement in the lead up to the wedding but also try to offer a telephone number and email address. That way there really isn't any excuse for a non-reponse, although rest assured there will still be those odd ones who show up without letting you know *sigh*.... you can always pull up a chair for them on the children's table!

With destination weddings it is important to include as much information about the location and schedule as you can. Include things like directions, possible accommodation close to you and an itinerary if your planning wedding related activities like pre-wedding dinners or post-wedding get togethers. This ensures everyone knows where to be and when to be there beforehand, reducing confusion (and stress for you!) in a foreign country. I offer reverse side printing for invitations and additional cards that can be added to your package and are great ways for keeping your guests in the know!

On-the-day stationery should be ordered once you have your guest numbers confirmed, so roughly 4 weeks before the big day. My lead times for seating plans, place cards and order of services is around 2-3 weeks leaving enough time for everything to be done and dusted and ready to go!

Getting married is one of those milestone moments in life that will create special memories for you and your partner but that doesn't mean the planning is always smooth sailing. If you have questions about where to start with wedding stationery, when to order or what to include do contact me as I'm always here to help!
